Choose animal - the child should like this animal and want to know more
Step 2
Collect resources 1 - books from library, fiction and non fiction 2 - clips from animal documentries 3 - trip ideas ie local farm or zoo with that animal 4 - worksheets and colouring in pages 5 - games involving that animal
Step 3
Involve other subjects Where on the planet does the animal live in the wild? How does your animal live? Draw a picture of the animal? How is this animal different to yourself? How do they comunicate? Do other animals communicate differently? Can you create a story about your animal? Can you take a picture or video of your animal? Can you write a newspaper artical about your animal? Can you learn a song about your animal? How far do they travel? Can you cook cookies in the shape of your animal? What would happen if your animal got wings or extra pair of legs? Is your animal endangered? Can you describe your animal makes you feel? Can you write a newspaper article on your animal?
Step 4
Gather everything together Place everything in a box or something which can be un wrapped, including plain book or folder to keep everything at the end. Questions should be in the box or book / folder for the child to look at as they want. Choose one thing to kick it off. Read a book, or show a video or ask a question.
