Options include, International GCSEs or iGCSEs, GCSEs, A levels, International A levels or iA Levels, access courses, BTECs and Open University, among others such as qualifications in each artistic discipline. To get work experience and volunteering opportunities do look on the page dedicated to this! |
It might be wise to look at doing some subjects (especially A levels and equivalents) in local colleges for some subjects. This will enable a reduction in the costings; access to subjects which need coursework or practicals; while still having benefits of home education. You might even be able to take your Home Education examinations at the college.
However it is advised that colledge lessons are only part of that subject's learning. Home study should also be part of the preparation for the examination in every subject. The best universities, with the highest rates of employability after graduating have very high expectations and have subject which they prefer and don't. For example look at LSE, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Cambridge Trinity & Oxford.
For even more information about preferred subjects and the subjects which will be most useful when it comes to university read the following from Student Ladder. |

With a startling 50% of jobs predicted to be gone by 2025 [1, 2], under 10 years away, it is important that all children, whether home educated or schooled in private or state facilitates are not going to be left destitute by the changes in employment and they have the skills in order to gain suitable and in demand skills. Or waste time and money on study which will leave them with no employability. Jobs which are unstructured are likely to remain, however jobs which are structured will be taken over by robots. Not all the jobs in the list will entirely disappear, however there will be so few employees in these areas that there will be little point entering these professions. The major skills needed will be computer studies, problem solving, human understanding & creativity is all jobs for the future, no matter the industry. |
